Girlfriends
No. Not the show. Even though I absolutely loved it! I have girlfriends. Many that I’ve known since forever. The problem is that they still live in the Big Apple. Whereas, I decided to move to the Sunshine State. So, we don’t get to hang out like we used to. We stay in contact. Share pictures. Make plans to have an all girl vacation. But what about when I need someone face to face? I’ve moved to a place where I have to start fresh and my “girlfriend” has essentially become my husband. Not a good look.
What’s a girl to do? I tried hanging with my family. That was disastrous. (Only once a month. More than that and I get cousin-phobic) I go to bookstores. Talk to random strangers in stores. (Hey. I’m nice. Not completely psycho. Wanna be besties?) I was even desperate enough to go on Craigslist. (Moderate success. Some were ghetto or trashy. Most were trying to sleep with me. I’ve still got it!) So what’s a girl to do? Meetup.com is a pretty good place to find people with similar interests. I found a playgroup for my son! There are book clubs, political clubs, people who love movies and just about anything else you can think of. So I tried there. It’s…….. okay. Yesterday, as I was reading RedBook, I came across a teenie tiny article about girlfriendcircles.com. Hmmmm…..interesting. It’s like a Match.com or Eharmony for women looking for friends. I didn’t even know they did that! It’s like $30 for 6 months. So I got soooo excited. Went to the site to see if they had established themselves here, and………….NO. Denied! At least not in my age bracket. Back to the drawing board. Sigh!
However, despite my un-success, I would encourage you to at least try it out. It’s a good idea. The site answers all of your questions. Try it out! You might end up meeting your new BFF. Or your secret lesbian lover. Now you can make a song about having a ring on both hands. Happy Friend Hunting!

That might work up north, but here in good ole florida, there is no pavement pounding. We have to drive everywhere! But I will take into consideration what you’re saying and do my best to go out and about.
Whatever “Too Cute”. You need to pound the pavement to find real friends. Life is not the yellow pages… let your feet do the walking NOT your fingers! How yuh like me now!
Get with the times! I’m not even into the party scene like that. I am going into the world! The whole world…. World Wide Web! LOL
Before blackberries and smartphones people went into the world and found friends. Why can’t you just go find a friend. Do you need a .com to find a bff?
