Skinnygirl Shapers Review and Giveaway!
Ladies, let’s be honest. Most of us, if not all of us, need a little bit of help making our clothes look the very best. I’m talking about what the industry calls shapewear, or as I like to call it armorwear. Some of us have had children and struggle with the dreaded pooch. Some of us struggle with our weight and the various lumps and bumps that come with losing and gaining. And some of us simply don’t like how a pice of clothing looks without something to help it along.
I fall into all 3 categories. For the most part, I’m looking for a smoother to help my clothes look, well, smoother. Some of you may blanch and think of girdles and various other forms of torture, but today’s shapewear is nothing like in year’s past. Let’s get this clear. In the shapewear world, there are smoothers and shapers.
A smoother piece is a helper piece. Almost like primer for make-up. It helps your clothes lay neatly and makes sure that there are no lumps and bumps trying to peek out.
A shaper piece is firmer than a smoother and does double duty. A shaper piece is the closest thing to a girdle, but much more comfortable because of the flexibility of the fabric. It also keeps everything smooth.
I was recently given the opportunity to review shapewear from Skinnygirl. Now for those of you that don’t know, Skinnygirl is Bethenny Frankel’s (of Real Housewives of New York fame) brand. She started out with her Skinnygirl drinks that have about 100 calories in them. And they are delicious! She has broadened her brand, and now has the Skinnygirl Shapers!
I received the Get the Scoop Cami and the Booty Booster. I laughed because they somehow even they knew that I needed some help in the booty area. I immediately started testing out the cami by stretching the cami to see how firm it was. Quick tip: The firmer your shapewear is, the more it holds in. It’s also harder to get on. The Get the Scoop Cami was firm enough to keep everything in it’s respective place, but not to be considered a shaper. It also allows you to wear your own bra, which I personally love! There are many other shapewear camis that don’t allow for that. As we all know, I’m a large breasted woman. It’s often difficult to find a shapewear cami that will fit my breasts and still fulfill it’s person of smoothing. So I usually stay away from camis.
I really liked the Get the Scoop Cami because it was extremely comfortable. It was a nude color (also available in black) and I could wear my own bra. It smoothed out my back and it made sure that one of my clingier tops lay neatly against my body. I wore it from 6:30 AM to 10 PM and not once wanted to take it off! I almost forgot that it was on! It comes down to hip length, but I kept it right on top my hips. This is only because I have a much smaller waist than my hips, so I didn’t want to run the risk of it riding up when I walked. At about $30, I would recommend it. Most shapewear pieces are a little on the expensive side, but we have to look at these pieces as investments. Besides, $30 is not bad!
The next piece is called the Booty Booster. And it does what it says. If you don’t have a butt, it makes you look like you’ve got one! Ever hear of Saggy Booty pants? Well, those are the pants that fit everywhere else but your booty because you have nothing to fill out that area. Just saying. This is what the Booty Booster does.
Notice the difference? Yeah. It is actually a panty with some extra padding to help out those of us who are bootyless. Will I honestly use this? Doubtful. However, I do have a family member who was more than happy to take it off of my hands! Overall, I was impressed with the quality and the results. My vote is definitely for the Skinnygirl line!
As an added bonus, Skinnygirl Shapers is offering one of their Booty Boosters to one of my lucky readers!! Here’s how to enter:
