Wooden Shoes by Cat Potter

A friend of mine recently emailed me an article from DesignTaxi about a designer who created shoes from wood. Now this normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but the shoes are made entirely from wood. Solid fluid pieces. I thought it was kind of cool- albeit weird.

Designer Cat Potter really went a different route. I’m not sure if this was supposed to be artistic or not, but I can’t see anyone wearing these. I mean…Would (no pun intended, hehehe) they be comfortable to walk around in? The only pair that I might even consider wearing is this sandal looking one, which is half-decent.

I like that she combined new technology with old school materials. I like that she took a risk. I would love to know how heavy these shoes are and how comfortable. For the most part, these look like wooden boxes for your feet. You know, what? I can totally see Lady Gaga wearing these designs. What do you think?

  1. To clear it up: I know the designer and no they are not really meant to be worn. These are MA pieces from the london college of fashion and the course encourages its students to stretch themselves and do unusual things. These are certainly unusual!

I didn’t truly think they were meant to be worn. Lol
But thank you for the clarification! They are a beautiful example of design and architecture.

  2. These are very creative and polished. If its made from 100% wood, I don’t see how these could be comfertable.

    • I had the same thought. But like I said, these MUST be artistic and not realistic. n_n They are out of the running for me as well!

  9. I am afraid you are right, they are made for Lady Gaga and Lady Gaga alone. ;)

My sister had some wood sandals sort of like the first picture though the tops where leather and they were still uncomfortable.

  10. Happy SITS day!!

I don’t think I’d be a fan of the wood shoes but they are fun.

  13. I don’t quite know what to say… so I’ll go with Happy SITS Day! That is one heck of a pair of shoes. The teacher in me, who has to stand on her feet all say says, “Ouch!” I’d rather have a pair of zebra-print Dansko clogs!

    • These shoes are not meant for walking! Purely artistic…at least until Gaga decides to wear them!
Thanks for coming by my neck of the woods!

  14. Hi Trianna,
Saw you at SITS – and I must say that I could never navigate my neighborhood in those wooden shoes! I’d trip and fall on our bumpy roads!

    • Nowadays, we have soft leather and suede to keep our feet comfortable. Only Gaga and Nicki Minaj want to wear things like those shoes. =)

  15. Hi there! Came over from SITS to wish you a happy SITS Day! The sandals look kind of fun, but I bet they would hurt like crazy after just a little while…not to mention the long term damage to your feet!

  19. Love the design and the creativity, but just don’t think they’d be very comfy ;) And I’m all about comfort! lol
