Summer Throwaways {Affordable and Easy Summer Shoes}

I’ve realized that at times, my salary and the shoes and styles I want, are at odds with each other. More often than not. Usually I try to buy pieces that will stay with me for a few years. Classic styles, good craftsmanship and quality materials are a must for ANY shoe. Even the throwaway kind.

Throwaway Shoe: An affordable, not neccessarily cheap (which would then imply bad quality), shoe that can be worn for one season and then donated or flung to the back of your closet until you do your spring cleaning next year. This shoe is usually a go-to shoe that costs $25 and under.

I’ve had my share of throwaway shoes. From Target (Tar-shay) to Walmart to Payless and the women’s shoes section online, there is a wide array of inexpensive options for those of us who can’t afford a few pairs of $100 or even $50 shoes. Trust me when I say, I had to learn very quickly about budgets during the summer months. The amount of options in the cute shoe category…Sigh! And I’m a one in every color kind of girl…..

Check out these really cute options that I found online, each for under $25, that can be worn with anything from a cute pair of shorts to a summer evening dress.

Note that these are all flats. I know some of you think that I am biased. And you would be right! I love heels, but flats can be cute too!

Where do you go for your Summer Throwaways?

  1. The first pair is adorable. I used to buy a lot of “Mid-range” shoes— ones that retailed from 50 – 150. But I realized that often the quality wasn’t what I wanted for that amount of money and the shoe didn’t have a long shelf life.

    Now I try to buy a mix of throwaway (or mid range on sale) and high end (ABSOLUTELY on sale!) shoes. This way I don’t feel guilty about my purchases and the one I want to last absolutely do.

    As for your picks— the first are my favs! Great find!

      Thank you! EVERYTHING I buy has to be on sale, too! I was explaining to someone that just because a pair of shoes is inexpensive doesn’t mean that the quality is bad. I’ve had shoes that lasted from summer to summer that I only spent $20 on. I’ve had shoes that I spent $75 on and they didn’t last past the season. You live and you learn.

  2. Those are adorable, but I never buy shoes just for one season. I always look for cuteness and affordability and comfort… and comfort outweighs all of them.

    I then, of course, where them until I can’t anymore ;)

  3. My salary and shoes are always at odds with each other! The shoes you pictured are really surprisingly cute for the price they are. I especially love those yellow sandals, they would look cute with jeans, skirts, or even more dressy outfits.
