A Personal Stylist {How I Finally Allowed a Stranger to Dress Me}

I was asked by Nordstrom to try out one of their Personal Stylists. Sooooo, I reluctantly did. I have trust issues. Serious trust issues. I mean, how is this complete stranger supposed to dress me?

Although I was nervous, I put my big girl panties on (aka my girdle) and called to set up an appointment. I met Christin, my Personal Stylist, at the the Burlington store. She asked a few questions, like my size, what kinds of styles I liked and even if I had a special occasion in mind.

I actually did have a wedding to attend and I was curious to  see the types of items that she would pull for me.

I actually did love this red Tahari dress, but alas, it just didn’t fit as it should have. Even though we went up a size, neither Christin or I were very happy with how it looked. We didn’t even bother trying on the second dress because, well, the chest area was too small for my too large chest.

I loved how this Adrianna Papell Blouson Dress looked on me! I thought it was perfect for the wedding or even a nice dinner date.

I adore this Rosette Blouse!! It had such a romantic feel. Christin paired this with a beautiful pair of mesh pants from Tadashi Shoji and I felt like my clothes were flowing as I walked.

I explained to Christin my love affair with shoes (Don’t judge me!). Understanding my need for a pair of sexy heels, she brought me this pair of Jimmy Choos. We paired these with the Rosette blouse and the mesh pants. The black and white combination with the pop of red was GORGEOUS!

OMG!!! I need these in my life. Christin told me that these Valentino pumps were a personal favorite and she had just ordered a pair because they were to DIE for. SO SO SEXY!

Last but not least was this Elie Tahari Wrap Dress. I so fell in love with the dress, that I just had to purchase it! It draped and wrapped against my curves perfectly while still hiding any imperfections.

Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend making an appointment. They take the time to listen to what you want and give you what you need. Even though I went in nervous, I came out with a beautiful dress that was also within my budget (with money to spare, if I may add!).

I will be posting up pictures within the next week or so of me in my new dress. The next few weeks are full of events for me, so there will be boundless opportunities to look cute. If you were wondering, the wedding was beautiful. And so was I. And the bride too, of course!

  4. What a fun experience =)

    Although like you, I’d have a hard time letting someone else take control. It’s like you have your own sense of style so it’s hard for someone else to capture that completely..

    for me, I pick things that evoke emotion out of me. I have to have a piece that makes me feel good, if it doesn’t, it’s good bye!

    but it’s an experience, would you do it again? =)
