Texture Rich

My style idol is not someone famous. And not (more than likely) someone that you know. My style idol is my aunt. She has this classic style that is always changing and managing to stay trendy. Sounds like an oxymoron….

How does a classic look evolve and stay trendy? Let’s take an example from Chanel.

Chanel maintains its classic silhouettes and signature styles, while staying youthful and modern. That’s why everyone loves them some Chanel. You just can’t go wrong.

And my aunt….she’s a Chanel kind of girl!

Anywho, I was feeling inspired by her and wanted to really play on the different textures of the season. I also wanted to show that you can use different trends in the same outfit, without going overboard. There are ways to do things, and ways to not.

I have three different style trends in play.

  1. Jacquard or Brocade designs- This blazer is not only beautiful but versatile. It can be worn to dinner, shopping or going for drinks. Dress it up or dress it down. It’s a classic (aka investment) piece that is fairly inexpensive.
  2. Textured pants- This is BIG this season. They come in a multitude of colors, but I chose to keep it simple with black. These are more along the trendy lines, but this trend won’t be going anywhere for a while.
  3. Lace- This material is always pretty, but not always trendy. Many think doilies, grandmas and wedding dresses when they hear lace. However, for the past few seasons, lace has played a major role. From spring and summer’s delicate and light materials to fall and winter’s heavier options, this is a classic trend that comes and goes.
What do you think? Are you willing to try out a Texture Rich outfit?
