Reef Sandals: Perfect Beach Shoe
For the past month or so, I’ve been in sunny South Florida visiting with my darling mother and siblings. The kid is out of school and I’m a mobile unit. So we packed up, left Boston and came for a much needed vacation.
First two things that come to mind when you think of South Florida? Beaches and bikinis. Though I am always at the former, I wouldn’t be caught dead in the latter. Beach gear, beach wear, pools, sand, sun sky. Why did I move?!
Whereas up north I am prone to wearing my heels 24/7, there’s a more relaxed vibe here. Flip flops and a cold beer is all you need. You have your regular cheapo flip flops that are good for maybe two weeks and then you need a new pair. They have no support and after all of the walking around they look completely busted up. Not cute.
I can’t stress to you the importance of a well-made shoe. Arch support in any kind of flat shoe is key. No matter how cute your shoes are, if they’re too flat you’re going to have achy, cramping feet. But flip flops are a necessity when you’re on or near the beach.
You can choose a spongy, no support, they look like they cost $2 pair. Or you can choose a solid rubber-soled or leather pair that you pay more for, but last you for years to come. Are you going to be walking around all day and need a little extra padding on the soles of your feet? Maybe you don’t feel like wearing heels with your uber cute maxi dress.
Go check out the offerings on www.Reef.com. Designed specifically for the beach life, these flip flops and sandals are not only cute, but comfortable, affordable and functional. My favorites are the leather flip flops in the Gypsy line and the adorable River sandals line. The River line actually has a Vibram outersole which adds an element of extra comfort.
Reef has sandals, flip flops and more available for guys and girls, big and small. So while you’re checking them out, ordering the most comfortable pair of flip flops ever….I’ll be relaxing on the beach. At least until the 23rd. Then it’s back to the grind for both the Kid and me.
