SJP by Nordstrom
Late last week, Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Ms. Carrie Bradshaw herself, released her exclusive to Nordstrom collection. We all know that I am a fan of Nordstrom. I admire SJP (Hocus Pocus, anyone?!). I mean, her shoe game is RIDICULOUS. Ridiculously, magnificently, insanely fabulous.
I clicked through the SJPxNordstrom collection and waited. Waited for what you ask? Waited for that heart fluttering gasp of incredulity over how absolutely gorgeous these shoes and handbags were.
Instead, as I scrolled and clicked through, I was left feeling…..UNDERWHELMED.
I get what she did. She made the collection just expensive enough to be exclusive but not elusive. She made a collection for the young, new-to-the-world-trying-things-out-but-I-need-classics twenty-year old and the older, I-don’t-need-to-experiment-because-I-know-what-I-like fifty-year old woman.
What I don’t get is why.
Why didn’t she go for more? Why didn’t she have at least one, ONE, shoe or handbag (or something!) that made me go “YES!”? Why didn’t she pay homage to the character that made her not only a name, but a brand? The Carrie shoe could have been something wonderful. Instead, it’s a t-strap pointed toe pump. Classic (read: safe), but boring.
Perhaps in my love of Carrie Bradshaw, I overlapped her with SJP. Perhaps I assumed because of SJP’s style sense and risk taking fashions (that are very hit or miss, but I can appreciate), that there would be something there that I absolutely LURVED or positively LOATHED. Instead, all I have is a shoe that was named after a character that catapulted her to a fame that she didn’t have before. And to me, it’s all just….MEH.
Check out the rest of SJPxNordstrom and tell me what you think. Did you expect more, or is this collection right on point?
